About Me

I love playing music! I've always said that when playing music becomes a job I would quit and well... After 31 years of playing out I'm still at it and loving it more and more each day. I strive to be the best entertainer I can be and try to bring variety and comedy to my shows. I play a wide range of styles including classic rock, blues, country, 80's, and today's rock. I try to keep my music fresh and learn what is popular on the radio as well as the ol' sing along's that everybody knows.  I can promise a great time and a memorable experience.....

Born in 1975 I grew up in Grove City Ohio and graduated from the Grove City High School in 1993 (Go Hounds!!). I started playing at age thirteen when I got an acoustic guitar for Christmas (Thanks Dad!). Three years later some high school friends and I created the country band Rais'n Ruckus. We even won the Grove City Arts In The Alley Talent Show in 1993!! For the next six years we played just about every AMVETS and VFW in and around central Ohio. In 1998 I started working with Nashville recording artist Rose Kaiser and the Steel Water Band, first as a sound tech then moving up to acoustic guitarist. In 1999 I met Mark O'neil and started the Top 40 alternative band "Bad Little Monkey". BLM was on the rise and things were going great but as they say...”All good things must come to an end”. In 2003 I answered an ad for a band looking for a singer. I auditioned and WillyJack & the PoleCats, a classic rock and blues band, were born. 11 years and a couple of lineup changes later brought us to "Rob Adams & the PhatCats", a high energy variety band rockin' and rollin' and making people move on the dance floor. The PhatCats played all over central Ohio until spring of 2014. After consideration of giving up a band all together and just playing as a solo acoustic act I decided there was no way I could do it, I would just miss the fun too much! Sooo, some calls were made and "Rob Adams and The New Problem" was formed. Still a fun timmin', boot scootin', booty shakin', good music playin' band!!! When I'm not playing music I'm is saving lives and putting out fires at my fulltime job as a firefighter.

 My Equipment

I use a Bose L1 model II pa system that takes up a minimal amount of room ( about an 8x8 area) so I can play a variety of venue's. I run my vocals through a TC Helicon Voice Live Harmonizer so at times it appears there are 5 people on stage. It also allows me to change my voice so I can sing male/female duets.

I play Taylor guitars through a Digitech Jam man loop pedal. This allows me to play the rhythm part of the song then lay guitar leads over the rhythm all in real time. I also use a Roland GR-20 Synth to add horns and keys to my songs.
